Goals of the project

The main objective is to increase energy efficiency through technological renewal of the system for external artificial lighting of the town of Velingrad and improvement of the living conditions of the population.

Specific objectives of the project:

Reduction of energy consumption of the external artificial lighting system and respectively CO2 emissions by applying the two proposed ESM;
Creating an effective partnership between the municipal administration Velingrad and the Norwegian partner and exchanging relevant experience and know-howin terms of energy efficiency and innovative management systems.The project aims to optimize the energy consumption of the city system for outdoor street lighting in Velingrad and improve the living conditions of the population.

General goal of the project: increasing the lighting in the city, reducing the consumed electricity and respectively the costs for it.

The project envisages reconstruction and modernization of the municipal infrastructure – systems for outdoor artificial lighting of the town of Velingrad, through the implementation of 2 main energy saving measures (ESM):

ESM 1 consists of delivery and installation of:El. control boards for MA-78 pcs.Dismantling of old luminaires and installation of new LED luminaires – 2,209 pcs.

ESM 2 consists in the introduction of an Intelligent System for automated management, control and monitoring of the MA with included software, hardware and equipment of the control point.

Activities and results

Main activities:
Activity 1: Dismantling of existing illuminators, delivery and installation of new luminaires
Activity 2: Supply of an Automated Management and Monitoring system, incl. dashboards for street lighting management
Activity 3: Exchange of experience, good practices and know-how

The implementation of the project will take place in partnership between the municipal administration Velingrad and specialized Norwegian company Sigra Group, Oslo for exchange of experience and know-how in the field of realization of the ESMs for energy efficient external lightning.

The main expected results of the implementation of the project are:

the achievement of an annual reduction of CO2 emissions over 800 tons;
annual energy savings in the amount of 1025.27 MWh, ie 87.8% of the street lighting’s energy consumption in Velingrad
